All Island Inter School Essay Competition 2016

ALL ISLAND INTER SCHOOL ESSAY COMPETITION – 2016

The Lanka – Japan Friendship Society (LJFS) in association with the Embassy of Japan in Sri Lanka has made arrangements to conduct an “All Island Inter School Essay Competition” in all three languages and students studying in the GCE O/L, A/L classes in any school throughout the island are eligible to participate in this competition to mark the 60th Anniversary of the LJFS.

The topic is: “How would you see Japan today; in what way can you contribute to further develop Sri Lanka – Japan relations”.

The cash prizes are as follows:
First prize: Rs: 25,000/-
Second prize: Rs: 20,000/-
Third prize: Rs: 15,000/-
And seven consolation prizes.

The winners of the competition are scheduled to be awarded their prizes at a ceremony to be held during the 2nd week of January 2017, at the Sasakawa Cultural Centre Auditorium, No: 4, Bala Tampoe Lane (formerly 22nd Lane), Galle Rd., Colombo 3.

Rules for the competition:

1).Only students in the GCE O/L or A/L classes upto 20 years of age, are eligible to take part in the competition.
2).Number of words should not exceed 1200.
3).A reasonable travelling allowance will be paid to the winners who attend the ceremony to collect the prizes.
4).Research from books and the internet is allowed, but copying whole paragraphs are not allowed.
5).Decision of the panel of Judges is final.

Completed application form as per below should be sent with your hand written to the following address before 30th November 2016 to the Hony General Secretary, Lanka Japan Friendship Society, Sasakawa Cultural Centre, No: 4, Bala Tampoe Lane, Colombo 3.
