Lanka Japan Friendship Society Hold Health Camp
“The Lanka Japan Friendship Society (LJFS) held a health camp to serve the under-
privileged residents of Weheragoda, Peliyagoda, Wellampitiya, Kollonawa, Kelaniya etc
within the premises of the Sedawatte Weheragoda Purana Viharaya on
19th March 2016.
The Chief Guest was Mr. Masaki Takaoka, 1st Secretary of the Japanese Embassy
who was received on arrival by Mr. Sumana Liyanage, President, Mr. Chandra Jayatilleka,
Hony General Secretary and Mr. Jayaraja Chandrasekera, Project Chairman.
Dr. Lakshman Weerasena headed the medical team and patients were
treated for Diabetes, Osteoporosis, womens & children illnesses, pediatrics, arthritis,
ENT, ECG and illnesses in general.
Five hundred and twenty six (526) patients were treated at the health
camp from 9.am to 2pm, and the Lanka Japan Friendship Society is happy
to have carried out this service project at grass root level.
The Sedawatte Weheragoda Purana Viharaya (Buddhist temple) was the
ancestral home of the late President J.R. Jayawardena.
