The Lanka Japan Friendship Society together with members of the Japanese Solidarity Association and the Japanese community in Sri Lanka cleaned and painted the Japanese cemetery, within the General cemetery, Borella on both the 7th and 8th Sept 2024.

Mr. Merrick Gooneratne/Executive Director/TOS Lanka provided the labor for cleaning the walls on the 7th, Mr. Suren Raghavan provided the wire and paint brushes and Ms. Samadara Mampitiye, General Secretary obtained 20L of weather proof paint sponsored by Mr. Nemantha Abeysinge, GM Nippon Paints.

The project implementation was supervised by Project Chair Dr. PHP de Silva. Painting was done on the 8th with the Japanese Ambassador also making a surprise visit to the site.
