The President of the Lanka Japan Friendship Society Mr. Merrick Gooneratne accompanied by Mr. Mahendra de Vaz/Vice President paid a courtesy call on the new Japanese Ambassador His Excellency Mizukoshi Hideaki at his residence. A very positive discussion on enhancement of friendship between Sri Lanka and Japan and the contributions made by the LJFS towards this was discussed at length.

According to a suggestion made by His Excellency, LJFS is to consider organizing a “70th Anniversary Walk” on the Lanka – Japan Friendship Road near the Parliament at Sri Jayawardenapura on a suitable date. Mr. Mahendra de Vaz was also introduced to His Excellency as a pioneer exporter of Sashimi grade Tuna to Japan, from the early 1970’s. Mr. De Vaz also presented His Excellency with some premium quality Tuna.
